The TP-LINK TD-W9980 is certainly a candidate as the best latest generation router, thanks to its advanced features related to the advantageous price.
After a careful test, we report our thoughts on this wireless router which literally left me stunned.
TP-LINK TD-W9980 Review
When I decided to try this WiFi router, I was a bit puzzled, given the low cost compared to direct competitors. We know that when you are looking for advanced features in the technological field, you can not spare any expenses.
However these days it is always good to keep an eye on your wallet and invest in products that can bring some savings, as long as they guarantee good quality.
From the very first impression, the product inspired me with reliability. From the moment I took it out of the package, I felt I had a quality product in my hands, made with selected materials and cared for in the functional aspect.
But also in the design that never hurts. The black color with green LEDs, give a touch of modernity to the TP-LINK TD-W9980 router and make it pleasing to the eye, which will allow us to display it freely at home or in the office.
It is a feature that should not be underestimated, given that often we try to hide these devices as they clash with the furniture or in any case they seem not very nice to display.
TP-LINK TD-W9980 Features
Even before putting it into operation, the characteristics that distinguish this model from the previous one catch the eye.
In fact, the TP-LINK TD-W9980 WiFi modem router is equipped with two USB ports that allow not only to share printers, keys, and much more but also to create a real media server or an FTP server, which already says it long on the advanced features of this WiFi router.
Another highlight is four 10/100 / 1000Mbps LAN ports that are Full-Gigabit and allow file exchange at very high speed.
While the EWAN port adds another very useful feature, which is to be able to connect “in cascade” to other modem routers, to make the creation of a local network more flexible.
But the function of this port does not stop there, in fact, being switchable, it allows it to be used with different types of connections, such as VDSL, ADSL, or Ethernet WAN.
This WiFi modem router uses the new VDSL connection up to 100Mbps but remains compatible with the old type of connection, which is even more widespread.
To add another important point in favor of the TP-LINK TD-W9980 WiFI modem router, there is the possibility of creating simultaneous Dual Band WiFI networks, at 2.4GHz IEEE802.11 b / g / n and 5GHz IEEE 802.11 a / n.
It allows you to get data transfer up to 600Mbps, which is a really good feature for a wireless router belonging to the mid-price range.
This latest generation WiFi router never ceases to surprise and is perfectly compatible with the new type of IPv6 addressing.
It is also possible to configure as many as 10 IPsec VPN tunnels, which means that this extraordinary device, with a reduced cost, will allow you to flexibly configure intercommunicating networks at a geographical level.
All this quickly and easily, thanks to the intuitive interface.
TP-LINK TD-W9980 Specs
If there is still any doubt that the TP-LINK TD-W9980, is the best router around, at least in its price range, I can add that this multi-function device also has a feature that often makes a difference, but to which few pay attention.
In fact, this WiFi router is designed to withstand 4000V peaks, thanks to the Lightning Protection system.
This characteristic is absolutely not to be underestimated, considering the electricity surges to which our electrical systems are subjected.
Especially during the bad season, or in summer when the network is overloaded with appliances such as air conditioners.
Precisely in these cases, it is easy for delicate tools such as wireless routers to burn or break down irreparably and the Lightning Protection system of the TP-LINK TD-W9980 WiFi modem router is certainly an added value of no small importance.
Another feature that I had the pleasure of noticing during the test is the great stability of the WiFi connection.
In fact, I was immediately able to ascertain the difference with my previous router, which was struggling to bring the connection to some areas of my home.
Surely the 3 directional antennas play an important role in this aspect of use, in fact, they cover 100 square meters perfectly and it does so, not only on paper as is the case with other similar wireless routers.
Final Words
In conclusion, I can say that the TP-LINK TD-W9980 WiFi modem router is an excellent tool that can not only solve some navigation problems by improving the bandwidth and enhancing the WiFi connectivity which becomes much more efficient.
But it also allows access to functionalities. of a high level that can hardly be found in WiFi modem routers of the same cost.
The performances of the TP-LINK TD-W9980 are certainly much more advanced than those present in the normal, medium-cost wireless routers that we have known before its release.
In fact, this model is an improved version of the previous TP-LINK TD-W8980, which despite being of a good standard, lacked some features that made its successor a successful router, appreciated by many people who use it both for amateur purposes. than professional.
In fact, this model is also suitable for use in corporate or office networks, precisely because of the enormous and varied features that I have illustrated in the section on features.
